Writing My First Draft

Whenever I write a first draft for a paper I always write to the best of my ability. So, attempting this first draft after reading “Shitty First Drafts” I was expecting to write out all of my thoughts and ideas for the paper instead of letting it make sense. I found it very difficult to let my thoughts just flow freely into my first draft because I am not used to writing without a lot of organization. I also found it hard to write the first draft because there are many ideas and examples that I would like to include in my essay however, the first draft is constricted to about 800 words so I had to choose what main points were most important and that I wanted to include in my first draft. Writing multiples drafts as opposed to one final draft is not a hard task for me. I am very used to writing multiples drafts because I find that in the first few drafts I often make silly mistakes. For me, writing many drafts is very beneficial because it gives me multiple chances to double check my work and make sure it not only answers the prompt correctly but that it also flows easily and makes sense to my readers. Overall, writing my first draft wasn't difficult for me it was more of a new experience.

  4. When I started writing I honestly just verbally vomited, which I do a lot, so just spilling out whatever came to my was pretty easy.

  6. Writing a bunch of thoughts at once was definitely hard. When you write one idea down and the next one has no connection it makes you feel like the whole thing is wrong and you dont know what you're doing.

  7. Writing my thoughts was easy for me but once i had my thoughts down it became hard to organize and comprehend them. I agree the writing multiple drafts is beneficial because it helps me organize and reorganize my thoughts and figure out what i want to say.
