Chapter 9 response

In chapter nine the topic of revising your work is addressed. The importance of revising your first draft is stressed a lot in this chapter. Both reviewing your own work and having another peer review your work is a good way of revising your ideas. Although I do not typically like others revising my work, I find having others read your work and sharing what they think could be improved is very helpful. If I revise my own work I am not as likely to make as many changes as compared to a new set of eyes on my paper. The author of this chapter also says that having questions to ask your peer reviewer can be helpful as well. I had not thought about this before, usually I would just let the person go ahead and review my work without saying anything. This is a strategy that I will try in the future so that I can have the person reviewing my paper look at specific areas. Overall, the chapter was very helpful in providing new ways to have your paper revised.

Comments

  1. I agree that the questions are beneficial because they serve as a guide and checklist and will only help one enhance their own essay.

  2. Me too. If I review my own paper, typically the only changes I make are grammatical.

  3. Whenever i try changing my own paper i always think its perfect and dont have to change much. But when someone else reads it they seem to want to change a lot.

  5. I can agree that asking ourselves questions to answer in our writing is a great tactic. I don't always do this but I am going to attempt to do so from now on.
