Many of the articles we have been reading use humor to illustrate their point, which is a nice change from the dry instructions provided by textbooks that I am used to. This article gave a few good examples of how genre can be used to best reach an audience or convey a point.

Dirk's writing was very interactive and they gave several demonstrations of how genre functions practically. By this time I think we've all gotten the point of what genre is, but it's still a good refresher. I don't think overthinking genres will be much of an issue for me, as Dirk warned against at the end of the article.
