Annoying Ways Response

I actually found this article to be extremely interesting and useful for my future paper. In high school my teachers always said that we had to use sources but never really went in depth as to why it is important and useful. By using the highway slow lane metaphor to explain his point the author, Stedman, helped me to understand why it can be annoying if sources are not used correctly. Stedman then goes on to explain other examples of where sources have been introduced and used incorrectly. These examples were helpful because he showed why they were used wrong and shows how these mistakes can be corrected. This article will help me to uses source in my article greatly. I will also be able to go back and look at the examples of mistakes and check it against my own work when I start to edit my paper.

  1. I agree with you that teachers in the past tell you to use quotes and never go into how or why to use them. I also agree that the examples in the text were helpful because the mistakes and corrections shown were easy to find and understand.

  2. I also agree that high school teachers never went in-depth on using sources and how to cite them. This is also an article that I am gonna go back and reference while writing my research paper.

  3. For me, high school taught me how to properly use quotes and cite sources, and I use those same methods to structure my quotes now.

  4. I also feel that the analogy Stedman used in the beginning of the text helped me better understand his point in criticizing "sloppy writing".
