Annoying Ways Response

This article was very helpful for me because one of the main areas that I am lacking in my writing is flow. Often I struggle with finding a way to insert a quote that isn't too simplistic without dropping in the quote. I was also only ever taught the basics of in text citations. One thing that I had never heard was to make sure the first work of one's in text citation should be the same first word on that source in the bibliography. This makes so much sense in referencing, I had never been told to site/ organize my sources in this way. This article was very good at detailing common problems in writing related to inserting quotes but also providing simple fixes. This picture is an accurate representation of how dropping a quote into a piece can sound if not explained.

    I also agree with you that this article helped with explaining how to help make essays flow because I also struggle with that in my writing. I also agree that finding quotes to insert that aren't too simplistic is an issue I have too.

"Navigating Genres" by Kerry Dirk makes you really think about what a genre is. Whenever I thought about genres, I always thought of it as the type of writing that is being created. All throughout school, we were taught that a genre was used to describe a novel such as nonfiction, fiction, fantasy, science fiction, etc. I never really thought of a piece of writing having a genre but now, after reading Dirk's piece, I now realize that writing does have a genre. Dirk also points out that genres are used to help people accomplish a goal. I never thought a genre could do that. Project 2 Reflection

1)      In this essay I am most proud of the new way in which I learned to write a research paper. I was able to incorporate new writing skills into my paper that I never learned in my high school classes but will aid me in my future writing. 2)      If I had more time to work on this essay I would try to include more specific details to support my topic from a wider range of sources and provide more reasoning to support the legalization of physician assisted suicide. 3)      Peer reviews benefitted my essay the most. This is because it provided me with a lot of constructive feedback that I was able to take into consideration while editing my paper.
