Annoying ways response
I think "annoying ways" gave me good insight on how to use quotes and citations in my essays. I also liked how it gave examples of bad ways to quote and then the ways to fix it. I agree with the article when it states how when you just add a quote into the beginning or middle of a paragraph, it could be confusing. I have experienced this personally when I read articles online or have peer-viewed. When someone just sticks a quote in out of now where it makes me take a step back and think: what was the purpose of that? I learned from the article that the most efficient way to use a quote is to introduce the source of the quote and then do an analysis. By doing an analysis, it makes your audience understand why you included the quote and what effect it has on your overall argument. Therefore, it makes the whole paper flow. By reading "annoying ways" it will help me with the construction of my research paper and the use of quotes and citations.
I agree with your points and also feel it is important to analyze a quote instead of just putting it in randomly.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the examples provided were very beneficial. Making sure as a writer, that you are on the same page as your readers is VERY important, and I personally can forget that I may not have the same thought process as my readers.
