Ch. 5 response

I found chapter 5 very useful. Whenever I am trying to pick a research topic, my biggest problem is I pick a too broad question. However, this chapter shows you step by step how to come up with a good research paper. I especially like how it tells you to first brainstorm on what you are curious about and what you care most about. I feel like by doing this, it will help me pick a topic that I am interested in and won’t get bored with the research. The book also shows how to do a mind map of your topic. This is something I have done in the past so I can put the questions I am interested in researching about all on one page before I decide on a final question. In high school, I didn’t take this many steps to creating a research question. I normally just come up with an idea in my head and research about it until I come up with a question. However, I feel like using the book’s approach, I will be more effective in coming up with a good question.

  1. I feel the same about the chapters reference to telling us to brainstorm the things WE are interested in. Personally, my writing flows better when I am discussing or writing on a topic I personally enjoy.
