Chapter 5

I found chapter 5 to be very helpful because often I have a hard time choosing a topic to write a research paper about. At the beginning of the chapter it explained ways you can brainstorm ideas in order to choose a topic and usually I just talk to other people to see what they think about the topic I have in mind. While this may be useful other methods of choosing a topic can help me greatly. For example, creating a mind map about my topic ideas will help me to make sure that there is enough information that I can write about. The chapter also includes questions to ask yourself about your topic before you begin writing. These are questions that I never really asked myself before I started writing and I used to just go for it but these questions will help me to make sure that my topic is logical for a research paper. One of the more interesting things that I read in this chapter is that you can alter your research question as you write your paper to whatever makes more sense. I never really thought that this would be something that I could do to improve my paper. I found this chapter to be very useful and something that I will look to for guidance as I write my paper.
