Chapter 5 Response

This chapter truly guided me through selecting an appropriate research topic. Typically in the past, we were left to fend for ourselves and bring forward a research topic that was normally ridiculed and labeled, "too broad." This is a task I personally have had a constant struggle with. As mentioned in the chapter, the suggest to make a list of things you are passionate about and consider forming a research based question/topic around one of those; however, I find it difficult to turn my passions or interests into a researchable topic.
Despite these past struggles, I feel as though the section in the chapter labeled "Guided Process," significantly helped. It showed me the true process and the amazing end result, rather than just telling me what to do and leaving me to do it. I find it better to be provided with an example I can both look at and relate to when writing any paper, research or not.

  1. I agree with you that my teachers have too, in the past, just left us high and dry with no help and then they say its too broad. They just expected it out of us to be able to produce a perfect research question.

  2. I agree with your thoughts that this was a good guide to start the research process. I also agree that the examples helped me apply the concepts.
