Chapter 5
I think his chapter a
good refresher on how to brainstorm to get to a more specific topic. I like how
it gave examples on how to brainstorm and get from a general topic to being
place and time specific. It reminded me
that when I’m looking at my sources that I need to check the background on the
author writing it and think about why they are writing that piece. I agree that
a person should choose a topic they like because in the past I’ve been assigned
topics and it’s such a drag and bore to do it. I wasn’t completely sure what a
proposal was and this passage clarified that for me. I now know I need a
research question, research on the topic, and a summary, along with an explanation
of why I chose this topic and the challenges I may face. When writing a
research paper its best to stay on topic and consider who the audience is,
along with staying focused on the purpose of the essay.
I found it important that what you pick is based on something you like. Otherwise the essay does not flow and sounds like its something you dont want to do.
