Reflection on Project 1- Taylor Wilhelmy

Between my first draft and my final draft, I was able to gain a more solid concept and I was able to further develop it into a decent essay. I feel as though my first draft was more of a discombobulation of whatever came to my mind, where now, in my final draft, I was able to develop my ideas on one topic and I made it cohesive. I learned that writing takes time. You cant spend one night on a paper and expect it to be perfect. You need to space out your works because, if not, you will get overwhelmed and burned out really fast. Also, if you try to do it all in one sitting, you tend to just ramble on and you don't really get a solid foundation. I noticed that when I tried to sit down and write a good chunk of my essay, I tended to ramble on about the same thing, sentence after sentence, with me basically saying the same thing in many different ways instead of elaborating on one point I was trying to make. I also learned that peer review can be challenging to determine what should be fix and what shouldn't. Sometimes, people tend to try and change your writing instead of just commenting on general things. If I had another week to do this, I probably would haven't have tried to make all off my changes in one night and I would have spent longer trying to find the perfect examples that make my point, but don't go too far off track that it distracts from the paper. If I could rewrite the prompt I would maybe talk about how the paper doesn't need to be specifically about genre conventions but if you find something deeper then you can analyze for that. Maybe I would make everyone turn in a  proposal to make sure they understand the topic and are on track with their thoughts.

  1. Hi Taylor
It brings me great joy to see that you've learned that writing takes time. It's true. A lot of people don't seem to understand it. Also, "sleeping on it" is always a good idea when it comes to jotting things down.
