presentations day two
Taylor Wilhelmy
- Clear presentation, good website layout. The video of the NFL's hardest hits shows very clearly how serious this issue is. However, the question of "does this program really help the players?" stated at the beginning of the presentation was never really answered.
- The topic is interesting and definitely worth exploring, but I feel that interviews or surveys of actual men/boys and how toxic masculinity actually effects them would have been more efficient at convincing the audience of the argument.
- Survey does a good job of conveying information on an interesting topic. I liked the poster and the message of the project.
- Two Spotify playlists were creative as a genre. Flyers and poster both demonstrate how easy it is to get distracted while listening to music and studying.
- Screenshots of Tweets, etc. shows where public opinion seems to lie. Memes are good and the poem is seemingly very heartfelt and conveys his feelings clearly.
- Seems to want to educate people about vegetarianism, so a blog is good for that (especially on a popular social media site). My only criticism is that it's definitely insensitive to people who are overweight and tended to characterize them in a negative light or say they couldn't be vegetarians. If you want to educate people, you shouldn't exclude an entire group or try to use them as laughingstock. Does a good job of educating on how to combat nutrient deficiencies through supplements, etc.
- The images made it more immediate since they are all of recent mass shootings. It does a good job of highlighting that direct action is needed in order to prevent further massacres. Survey graphs convey information clearly and the video highlights how the public recognizes it's an issue, but refuses to take any real action. Good job of highlighting how mental illness and society influence mass shootings.
- A story is a creative way to convey information and I like the interview format. The presentation caught my interest and made me want to know more about cryptocurrency.
- Brings awareness to an issue that not many people are informed about. Blog posts/timeline shows how the publishing industry has been affected by eBooks. Charts, etc. shows how industry is adapting to new forms of publishing.
- How body image is influenced by social media is demonstrated through comics and a tumblr blog. It also brings awareness to "thinspo" blogs which actually encourage eating disorders, which is important for people to watch out for.
- Survey gathers information from people about their opinions on physician-assisted suicide. While people believed that it should be legalized, some would not choose it. It explores the topic from an interesting angle.
