Navigating Genres RR

This writing about different genres and how they're formed gives a unique perspective on different styles and small ways that can differentiate between one genre and another. I liked how the author used a very basic example to introduce the recognition of different genres. Using music as an example, makes it easier to understand that there are different genres. Music is perhaps the most obvious one, as we are easily able to tell the difference between a country song and a rap song, for example. He even challenges the reader by pointing out why is it so easy to differentiate the two, which is a good point, because what happens most often is that we subconsciously decide what genre something is. If we hear a southern accent and a banjo, for example, we associate it with country music or with rap, if we hear a "hard" beat. Beyond just surface level, it is also the subject that helps to decide what genre something is, which can apply to any form of narrative. This writing pretty much analyzed the development of genres and the rhetoric used to create those specific genres.
