Chapter 7 Response

Integrating Sources: This chapter cleared up a few of my concerns when it comes to integrating sources. I have almost always used an online citation machine when it came to siting sources, mainly because I was unsure of how to do it on my own. However, after seeing an example of a bibliographic entry of references that provides examples of where EXACTLY everything goes, clears up my confusion and un-surness. As far as properly paraphrasing and integrating quotes into my writing in a fluid manner, I haven't really stubbled with this, but the chapter provided a good refresher on the proper techniques.

    I agree the examples provided in the chapter showing where everything goes in a citation helped clear things up. Now I know where to put the author, date, publisher, etc..

    I agree with you in that I have always used citation generators to do the citations for me because I was never taught how to do it correctly on my own. Now that I have seen correct examples, I now know how to do it without outside help.

    I think the examples provided were really helpful. I also used to use easybib to cite my sources, but this has given me a solid proper example and information on how to do it,

    I agree that this was a good refresher on how to properly use and cite sources. It reminded me of small things I might have otherwise forgotten.

"Navigating Genres" by Kerry Dirk makes you really think about what a genre is. Whenever I thought about genres, I always thought of it as the type of writing that is being created. All throughout school, we were taught that a genre was used to describe a novel such as nonfiction, fiction, fantasy, science fiction, etc. I never really thought of a piece of writing having a genre but now, after reading Dirk's piece, I now realize that writing does have a genre. Dirk also points out that genres are used to help people accomplish a goal. I never thought a genre could do that. I always thought it was used to just categorize novels or short stories but, now that I have read this piece, I now realize that genres are important because, if you write in the wrong genre, the message that you want to portray can come across completely differently then you had intended. Taylor   I really liked the video that Taylor made because it was a good visual representation for people who don’t like football. Personally, I like football, so I think it is necessary to have more research done for the players wellbeing. Sarah I really liked how Sarah chose such a relevant topic to today’s times. I really liked her journal entries because it showed how much a person is affected by others. No one should be judged based on their gender. Luke B I really like that he used a survey because it gave a semi accurate representation of the people here. I think it’s really funny that he chose the topic of makeup because most of the girls here always are done up. Kathryn The Spotify playlist was a very unique idea.
