Navigating Genres Response
The
author got my attention in the beginning with the reference to country music
because I like country music. I got the connection with the reference from the
song lyric, since I am familiar with it, that you have to understand the genre
to know how to write it properly. I agree that references help connect new information
and makes it easier to understand. I like how the author wrote for her audience, knowing we are composition students and wrote in an informal tone. I like
reading informal tone writings because I find it more interesting to read and when
I enjoy what I’m reading I’m more likely to understand the topic. It was interesting
the structure of the essay, how the author wrote her thought process when writing
and the tips she used to write the essay I was reading. It not only taught the topic
of understanding genres but also showed plenty of examples to understand
through. Although I thought the essay dragged on a lot, it started to seem repetitive
and even though she talked about the topics in depth, I felt like she could of shorten
it a little.
I agree with you in the fact that the article did seem to drag on forever when the article could have been shortened and her message of the article still would have been received by the audience.
