Writing my First Draft - Amiyah Lytle
My experience for writing my first draft was terrible. I absolutely hate writing drafts. To me, writing an assignment is just easier when I sit down and write it all in one. However, I tried to really gain the experience and benefits of writing drafts. I deleted multiple paragraphs, sentences, and words repeatedly. My experience was not too similar to the reading "Shitty First Drafts" due to the fact that my first draft was not a child's rambling, as she described. I actually had the ideas and evidence I wanted to use. Yet, my drafts were similar to the text we read because I was struggling to an extent. I felt the stress that she did when trying to write her food critic reviews. Overall, I'm still against writing drafts because I feel they're unnecessary.
For me, writing drafts has always helped my writing but I never experienced writing a "Shitty First Draft" either. I usually have all the main points that I want to include in my paper planned out before I start writing too so, I usually write my first drafts with some organization as well.
ReplyDeletei agree, I had a hard time constructing a draft that is only half of the essay. I ended up deleting and moving around lines constantly.
ReplyDeleteI believe that writing drafts are essential in a writing process because it allows for me to formulate my ideas and to revise them before publishing the final result.
