After reading chapter 9 I feel more prepared to attack the research paper, but more importantly create a good research question and proposal. I found it very helpful that the reading stated to revise the research question as you began and continued to research. I think doing this will help to improve my research question and the paper overall. I feel much more confident when approaching a topic of interest now that I have an idea of how to approach the research question. I also found the advice of taking into account the bias of who exactly is writing any academic articles that we find while researching. Overall I found the chapter to be a helpful tool in creating a good research question and proposal.

    I agree this chapter clarified on how to create an appropriate research question for the paper, and what is not a good research question.

    It's great that the chapter helped you in having a better view as to what to incorporate on your research essay. That was the goal of assigning that chapter.

"Navigating Genres" by Kerry Dirk makes you really think about what a genre is. Whenever I thought about genres, I always thought of it as the type of writing that is being created. All throughout school, we were taught that a genre was used to describe a novel such as nonfiction, fiction, fantasy, science fiction, etc. I never really thought of a piece of writing having a genre but now, after reading Dirk's piece, I now realize that writing does have a genre. Dirk also points out that genres are used to help people accomplish a goal. I never thought a genre could do that. I always thought it was used to just categorize novels or short stories but, now that I have read this piece, I now realize that genres are important because, if you write in the wrong genre, the message that you want to portray can come across completely differently then you had intended. Taylor   I really liked the video that Taylor made because it was a good visual representation for people who don’t like football. Personally, I like football, so I think it is necessary to have more research done for the players wellbeing. Sarah I really liked how Sarah chose such a relevant topic to today’s times. I really liked her journal entries because it showed how much a person is affected by others. No one should be judged based on their gender. Luke B I really like that he used a survey because it gave a semi accurate representation of the people here. I think it’s really funny that he chose the topic of makeup because most of the girls here always are done up. Kathryn The Spotify playlist was a very unique idea.
