Chapter 7 - Amiyah Lytle
This chapter covers the following topics: Quoting, Paraphrasing, Summarizing, and Avoiding Plagiarism. In the section of quoting, the main take away is that quoting is an exact copy of the author's words used when the author is either an expert or their words specifically will be analyzed or have a certain meaning. In the section of Paraphrasing, the main take away is that essentially paraphrasing is a quick synapse of the overall message used when the audience is different from the original piece or you don't want to quote directly. In the section of Summarizing, the main take away is to capture the authors ideas in a short summary used primarily when you need to capture the main ideas without the little details. In the section of Avoiding Plagiarism, the main take away is to correctly cite your sources.
Personally, this chapter was mainly review. However, it still did harbor some good information to remember when I write my research paper. I think the aspects of Quoting and Paraphrasing will be. most useful in my paper since we can't have long quotes. These two will best help me to capture the ideas of my sources.
I can agree that this chapter mainly served as a review of what we have learned in previous years; however, I still think that many of us have still gotten pretty confused on small things.
